i haven’t been to the state of Kansas, but got stranded in Kansas City MO once for about a week, just after a Habiat for Humanity ReStore training course. My passport went missing, and i had to get permission to leave the country without it. It was November, and there were roses blooming. Then the Playing for Change bus pulled in below my hotel balcony. Back home it was -25 C. i almost didn’t want to go home. there’s fun to be had wherever we are. i know you’ll find some in Kansas. maybe take the world’s largest kitten along to play with the world’s largest ball of sisal twine….?
The world’s largest ball of twine played an important role in the first video game in the ‘Sam ‘n Max’ series (computer games where a dog is a detective and an evil rabbit is his sidekick). In the game there was an elevator going up to an observation platform on top of the ball of twine, and the evil rabbit had to climb down the ball of twine to retrieve something (I forget what). The game somewhat exaggerated the size of the ball ‘o twine.
Wow, been way too many years since I played that game obviously. I just did a search on it and it seems that it was a fish restaurant on top of the ball of twine, and you get there by cable car. At least I got some of the info right.
hahaha, reminds me of that movie ‘michael’ didn’t the archangel john travolta want to stop off to see that ball of twine? you make me laugh, one a day, i can hardly wait!!! so you think my sweet adorable loverly kitteh picture is creepy? i loooove that picture, i think she looks so cute in it, but mainly i picked it coz it’s so dark and wouldn’t be too distracting as a background, THEY made me take down the video coz it slowed their ancient computers lol
The world’s largest ball of sisal twine. Impressive, but don’t get blown away

The illustrations are first rate as always! Nice work Sera!
lol I think I may have seen that, or something like it, while driving through Kansas once

Culture shock!! You made me laugh!!!
culture shock indeed..
lol, what’s that? an accessory for a wedding?
HA! How was that twine?! And – how much am I lovin’ that chicken?! They must have loved you big time. How could they not?
My cat would like the world’s largest ball of sisal twine. A lot. I’ve been to Lawrence, I liked that.
One a day from the archives? WOW! For those of us who missed them back then it’ll be a treat. I’ll try to keep up with you.
And yes, culture shock, as Marcie said. I lived in California for 12 years, where both my kids were born. It IS a different world there.

Well done indeed !

I think I remember this post. Ahhhh, Kansas. I used to live in Nebraska. The land of corn and flatlands.
P.S. They think Californians are weird? Hahaha, well for what they consider “normal” in Kansas, the rest of the country is weird!
