Tomorrow is my birthday, the one that changes everything. It’s the big four-oh.
No, I’m not Sisyphus. There is no huge boulder to roll back downhill, allowing me to start over. My punishment reward is to keep going.

Happy Birthday you clever darling! When I hit 40 I wanted to run out and purchase a t-shirt that read SHUT UP. I’ve hit 40 – stop talking to me about who I am or who I’m suppose to be. I’ll figure it out from here on out. I’m 40. It’s my journey now – I’ve won my wings. It’s a simply wonderful feeling. Of course many of us could have run out and purchase these SHUT UP t-shirts before 40 – but “society” relates to the 40 thing, so it’s good for them. : ) Happy Birthday again! Birthdays matter. Aging has a way of making sure we know that.

Well said – it is my experience each decade gets better but not necessarily materially. More like feeling much more comfortable about everything in general including acceptance of self or feeling more comfortable in your own sin- whoops I mean skin. Happy birthday.

Happy belated birthday!!!!
I remember turnign 40 – not that it was significant for me – just another day, another birthday. I rememberit because a bunch of relatives I have rarely had any contact with (not even Christmas cards) suddenly felt it necessary to call me and wish me happy birthday and impart advice on handling this “milestone” age.
Now … turning 45 a few weeks ago was harder. It was a strange thing, the week leading up to my birthday, I was down – sort of that proverbial “I am old now” feeling.
