I’m not a mother but I still like to nurture and make pancakes.
I remember when I was a kid I used to come home from Sunday School and my mother would get drunk and try and make us pancakes.

don’t eat them all, I’ll be right over
Crocodile jaws, yep that’s about right…pain wise lol children need all the love in the world, you don’t need to have any, you can be so many children’s mom…although I have to say, the bond between mom and child is unique andso strong..
The word “mother” is also a verb (to mother someone…) which – to me – makes all those with a nurturing nature a mother.
Fortunately, the making of (burnt) pancakes does not define motherhood.
Mother is also a verb. (Beth is brilliant, as you know.) Also? George Carlin had it better than some of us . . . at least his mother tried to make pancakes.
XO
may all
be blessed with peace always;
all creatures weak or strong,
all creatures great and small;
creatures unseen or seen
dwelling afar or near,
born or awaiting birth,
may all be blessed with peace!
. . . as with her own life
a mother shields from hurting her own,
her only child,
let all-embracing thoughts
for all that lives be thine,
an all-embracing love
for all the universe.
from the Nipata Sutra
Happy Mother’s Day
Question marks an unexpected part of transfer.
i deleted the question marks because the poem was too beautiful to be marred by unexpected questions. ~Sera
beautiful portrait
Happy mother’s day, Seraphine!
That’s O.K. Make me some pancakes. Or, I’ll make you some.
haha get drunk and try to make us pancakes,,,, imagine if you were giving birth to an alligator and it was the wrong way, ouch!!! aaaaah sweet seraphine, i’m so down
I like the picture here a lot; it really looks like a mother’s loving care, even with mashed potatoes in her hair. I wonder if guppy mommies consider their own fresh-born young an extra-special delicacy?
All women are potential mothers, we care, it’s in our nature!
March 8th will always stay in my heart and bring a great memories of Mother’s day that we celebrated back in Europe. Flowers for moms, beautiful cards that we would create in a school, lovely surprises by fathers for our moms…. that was all so sweet and warm .
In Canada I even do not know when is Mother day:)) These days ???
ok, i won’t be down, i’ll just keep on marching like a good little soldier, watching my feet, one two one two, thanks sister sera
I went with French Toast.
I’m sure she would remember
)
The other problem is cooking pancakes for alligator’s
Good one, my friend
Happy Mother’s Day, Seraphine. When I think of all the incredibly creative comics you have birthed over the years, you are more of a mother than most of the rest of us combined! And that’s the god-honest truth!
Ginnie and I are are just laughing out loud about your post, I hopped over to see the comic…wow…you sure would remember THAT coming out….ugly as H*** and it eats way to much…..(and a sore A**) I just love your humour.
…and what is the difference between cooking pancakes for a hungry son or an alligator…..
Have a great day…….
Sera, I rather like the sound of drunken pancakes, myself.
The photograph reminds me of a young Madonna (the ageing pop star who now needs to put under garments the assets she has flaunted since her ‘Like a virgin’ days, not as in Madonna representing Mary in the bible tales).
I believe that Alligators are very partial to a pancake or two, just remember to roll a fresh child up inside and job’s a gooden.
sounds like a plan – I will make pancakes for mother RIGHT NOW!
You need not ‘be’ a mother..to know how to mother. Such a beautiful image!!!
rum-flavored pancakes, yum!
that’s a nice selfie you got there.. and yeah, all women are potential mothers.. ;P
haha, i know she’s gorgeous!!! she’s even gorgeous as a wookie
actually i think she said she was a werewolf that night, which isn’t near as cute as a wookie!
LOL!!! But you will be someday Sera…and a great one I am certain:)
I had pancakes for Mother’s Day! G didn’t make them for me, though. We went to the Greek diner for breakfast – but it was good enough!
Love the portrait – it looks like a loving mother – looking down slightly at a loved one, and being graceful at the same time. Let us hope the late-great-George was not recalling a memory! And I agree with one of the previous comments – giving birth is a creative process. To a child, to a work of art, or simply the zest to live life. Create away, girlfriend!
ahhahaha
you are so fun…
I’m not a mother, I do like pancakes however, and booze for that matter lol nice portrait, is it a self portrait
Mmmm…pancakes. Now i want some. With blueberry’s mixed into the batter. *salivating*
dark… dark… dark… Ms. Sera. I have no idea why no one noticed how dark this post of yours is. It’s so damn obvious. I started worrying about you.
Seriously.
I like your processing work on the upper image! Happy Mother’s Day and great work and quotes as always! Have a great rest of the week!
You’ll make a great mom, then, Sera!
That’s so sweet…no one like mom:) Where would we be without her…….
