O.k. I get it. You’re sorry. But I’m not the one you should be apologizing to.
I convinced myself that normal rules didn’t apply… I thought that I could get away with whatever I wanted to.
Quotation from Tiger Woods, Professional Golfer
If I’d observed all the rules, I’d never have got anywhere.
Quotation from Marilyn Monroe
If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun.
Quotation from Katharine Hepburn

Sera, the whole ‘Tiger Woods’ thing has just ignited over this side of the pond with the Captain of our football team who has been playing away and got caught. He’s been stripped of his position which will possibly destabilize the squad at the up and coming world cup this year. That has led to a massive debate over the private life/public life argument….
I’m very old fashioned and believe in love and commitment, and my strong views about the wrongs of adultery were tested to the fore when a long term partner deliberately had an affair and rubbed it in my face, expecting me to back down from my personal belief and just forgive her because I loved and needed her….. it almost cost me my house, and did cost me a lot of money in the split, along with tears and pain, but my belief and resolve on the issue remained strong and true.
There will be those who will pour scorn on my opinion, but cheating on the one I love is something that I will never do, because sex is not as important to me as love, trust and talking things through when problems arise. As for the ‘rules’ part of today’s presentation, I have never believed in them in terms of photography, and many other aspects in life. We all bend and break them to a degree, and sometimes kit’s fun to push creative boundaries, takes risks, and live life on the ragged edge…. though not always!
well you know what i am, and THERE’S RULES, not that we all don’t break them… alot, that’s why we needed Jesus to die for our sins…. but people can DIE of broken hearts and adultery can be murder…. it can also drive somebody crazy, once i met this guy who’s wife left him for another man at Christmas time no less, and he was bipolar ever since, totally psychotic, very sad… and people do this because they just feel they deserve ‘more’… what about the people they do it TO?
oh and those are scrambled eggs up front, you would be very hard pressed to find a ‘grit’ in canada lol and gravy and cheese? i thought that was americans? and you guys deep fry everything too
Echoing your words Sera, go home Tiger, and talk to the woman who matters
Love this image, the green of the grass and the tree, great stuff
I can’t quite make the connection with someone’s sex life and what they do for a living myself. What proportion of the population has a bit of hanky panky during the course of their lives do you suppose? If we all got slagged off for it there would be no air time for anything else. Hipocritical claptrap if you ask me. What Tiger does with his ‘member I neither know nor care. Not much interested in golf either come to that.
Nice top shot
right. let’s throw stones. Honestly, he has to live up to his decision, none of my business! Love the tree and your photo, and Sera, you look particularly gorgeous today!
oops website went dodo
Tiger
No more greens in regulation
Or crowd wild in their adulation
No golf a year yet to recover
For you, for all, we all discoverer
Rules of golf and of life the same
Play it straight to avoid the pain
Down the middle and not to stray
Into trouble or disloyalty lay
But the feelings feel right
To be trusted in both golf and life.
Best wishes
I was so annoyed. Obama was in town and the roads were closed, but there was nothing on the news about it because all the news was about the Year of the Tiger (and not the good Chinese kind where you go for takeaway and they give you little cakes and a new calendar).
Tiger, I already didn’t like you. What you’ve done hasn’t affected that.
But damn, local news, it took me twenty minutes to bypass all the roadblocks just to get on the street where the computer store is. The least you could have done is let me know, yeah?
The donkey is always talking to his wife but sometimes he could be trapped!
Essentially the news is all about distracting people’s attention.
rules are guides,
not affirmative
they stage the way
but do not know the path
only yourself will know.
Some people are truly, truly sorry – but only for having been caught…
In my next life, I plan to NOT play by the rules – although I may be sorry.
You are right on Sera. Talk to her first, and then fix the endorsements. But hey, I have waited a long time to get married and I cannot understand at this point in my life why once you make that commitment you would mess it up.
well…. it depends who made the rules, and why. i’m glad there were rules teaching my kids not to play in traffic when they were littles…. but my family’s rule that girls just stay home and have babies was pretty satisfying to throw out the window and listen to the pieces shatter. and Tiger…. not overdue for a dose of humility, maybe?
This whole tiger thing is just crazy yet we are so drawn to this incident.
You’re funny ! Great quote comparison !
Beautiful photograph! Excellent light and colors! The composition part, unique with strong message! Great composition!
i think you and marcie would be the only two people who would comment on my blog if i didn’t comment first, i’m getting a little sick of that… what do you suggest i do?
The Tiger
William Blake
Tiger Tiger. burning bright,
In the forests of the night;
What immortal hand or eye.
Could frame thy fearful symmetry?
In what distant deeps or skies.
Burnt the fire of thine eyes?
On what wings dare he aspire?
What the hand, dare seize the fire?
And what shoulder, & what art,
Could twist the sinews of thy heart?
And when thy heart began to beat.
What dread hand? & what dread feet?
What the hammer? what the chain,
In what furnace was thy brain?
What the anvil? what dread grasp.
Dare its deadly terrors clasp?
When the stars threw down their spears
And watered heaven with their tears:
Did he smile His work to see?
Did he who made the lamb make thee?
Tiger Tiger burning bright,
In the forests of the night:
What immortal hand or eye,
Dare frame thy fearful symmetry?
i will be quite glad when the Tiger thing is over. People have sex, oh well. but you are right, i don’t see why he needs to apologize to the public. he hasn’t done a darn thing to me
Do we have nothing better to do with our lives than be angered by what someone else does with theirs? I mean really, what does it matter to me? Not a damn bit. I NEVER understood why people are so obsessed with what celebrities do. I could not possibly care less what they do in their private lives.
I’m always surprised with this way of mixin private life with professional life. What means to general public is the ability of Tiger withe golf holes
In my humble opinión
Exactly.
I wouldn’t have cared if he apologized to us or not. I agree that he really should be spending the rest of his life trying to make it up to his wife and family.
But I guess the apology was to the people who idolized his character, people who believed in him and used him as a role-model.
“Like, yeah, thanks for idolizing me, but I’m just an a$$hole…” – that’s how it all came across to me.
But at the end of the day, I think that the mass public really couldn’t care less about Tiger and his indiscretions.
Well… what’s lost is lost for him now. That ain’t coming back. But the real question that we need to ask ourselves is… who made him the star? And why we forget the general human behaviour doesn’t apply to the stars? And only person he should be apologizing is to her wife and no one else.
So far he did get away with it. Didn’t seem too contrite to me. Still rich beyond belief. Still going to golf and get richer.
“It seemed the world was divided into good and bad people. The good ones slept better while the bad ones seemed to enjoy the waking hours much more.”
- Woody Allen
I love the top pic. It looks muddy but I KNOW I would have walked right in the mud regardless!
And I still don’t understand why people’s sex lives should be our business. I personally forgive the tiger but would never date him.
Beautiful photograph! Excellent light and colors!
I never followed this story because it was a downer.
love the picture…the grass is very bright and vibrant….next to the lonely tree
While I do not condone his behaviour. I am bemused at the outrage and scandal it has caused (as any of these sorts of revelations seem to). Surveys, seem to indicate that infidelity is quite common – despite society’s profession for the ideal of monogamous fidelity.
I tihnk Marcus Aurelius said it best, “Leave another’s wrongdoing where it lies.”
