Comparing myself to others makes me feel bad.
Self-centeredness comes into play when there is not enough self-esteem — not the other way around… Putting others down as a way to feel better about oneself is whack and unattractive. And while [a Diva] may appear confident and strong, usually the opposite holds true.
Quotation from Curly Nikki, Tyra Show

sweetie, you’re pretty and i’m pretty, and they can’t take that away from us
we are timeless… i’m glad you like my new photoblog, the two themes that i paid for stopped working properly, go figure… hope your computer is better today, it’s pretty too, i know mine is, mostly coz it’s a mac
You always are right on, Sera. TOTALLY! (My laptop is at the shop today after it stopped working, so I guess we’re in good company. Sigh.)
The most important thing is how you are on the inside. Pretty on the outside empty on the inside is not a lot of good to anybody and unfortunately thanks to the cult of celebrity and the hard sell of advertising that is precisely the image we are constantly being bombarded with.
I think you’re pretty pretty, and pretty smart and pretty funny and pretty artistic. THERE!~
i think you are pretty! I don’t say how i am…
Its funny for me. I am so uninterested in what others think of me i have friends telling me i should do this or that with my look. I just smile and nod and go on wearing what i want and looking like i want. Its just not important to me. That’s also how i feel about others. Your looks mean little. Its what i see inside that counts.
everyone is pretty!
We are all ugly to someone… but pretty to someone else’s. Plus, we all look for different stuff. Like I can be self-conscious about my legs while other will see my nice eyes or vice-versa.
Moral of the story: I usually don’t care too much.
Pretty pretty pretty.
Anyone’s comment negative or positive are always coming from their perspective, so I always take both with a grain of salt and hold on to what I believe about myself!
The donkey is so pretty that every others guys (jaleous of course) told that he is THE ugly donkey!
BiZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
Very funny. I am as always impressed by your talent, creativity and intellect.
A VERY pretty portrait and a pretty ‘right-on’ comic. I pretty much agree with your thoughts with your thought on the pretty-ugly topic.
P.S. And no one’s looks can trump talent !!!
Love the portrait, and the comic. thanks for sharing your talent.
Cute and very true.
What lies behind you and what lies in front of you, pales in comparison to what lies inside of you. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson
And what lies inside of you is a treasure chest full of qualities and characteristics that make you extraordinarily beautiful.
If you are beautiful inside the exterior ceases to matter after ‘first impressions’…in the long run the most beautiful person may become impossible and unbearable…and of course, finally what matters most is how you feel about yourself!!! A wonderful post Sera, as always! And thank you for your kind comments on my pictures! Cheers!!
yes he stares into his computer like it is himself… hunched over, ‘my precious’ lol… he has ‘Elaine’ tattoo’d on his shoulder with infinity under it, i think he has high hopes for me!
i watched a video on calculus the other night, it brought back so many bad memories, not of calculus itself, which i loved, but bad memories of mini strokes and losing it all… soooooo, the elasticity of infinity doesn’t fascinate me anymore i guess
what is the limit as it approaches infinity???? I DON’T KNOOOOOOW
p.p.s. i look forward to you comments and work with gleeeeee
Mirror, mirror on the . . .
the knowledge of it is gone from my brain as well as the ability, the mini strokes n’ all… but it’s there in spirit
and WOW on the rubic’s cube, i couldn’t even LOOK at one of those things without filing it under impossible lol
Absolutely true. Taken to extremes it can be a serious personality disorder. It can range from aggravating to pathetic to dangerous. I have seen too many people like that in my life.
You are pretty.
A good point since each of us needs to encourage the other at some point of time which can happens much more effectively when you have sufficient self esteem not to be caught up or centered on self.
At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by a spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.
- Albert Schweitzer
best wishes
Seraphine is a wonder girl ! So pretty, so pretty !
look .. the others will not try to compare to you …
so just keep in you mind that you’re pretty
Bien à toi !
love your artwork! always great to see!
Beauty on the outside is always judged in the eyes of the beholder in my opinion, Sera. One woman’s Brad Pitt is another woman’s Jay Leno. Looks also fade and those who truly love us, age with us, and still love us. What’s important is the beauty from within. How our soul shines and radiates, how we treat others and how pure our thoughts and actions are. That’s my tuppence worth ha ha
I thought I commented on this post before. I am either loosing my mind, or I was being rude, indecent, or something like that, and the post got eradicated by higher powers. You know, that can actually happen.
But I think I loose my mind and that no “higher powers” have anything to do with it.
All I want to say, is that you are precious. That’s beauty in itself … and more!
Made corrections to my woodprint, will not post the results though … who cares anyway. It is now printed in blue – black was too harsh.
If I get my ass up in gear, I will start a new painting today. Forget the birds. I have captured them. This time it will be a sensual female nude, or a complete abstract image, or a combination of the two. Heck, I don’t know yet.
Comparing myself to others doesn’t make me feel bad, it makes me feel sick.
Because there is so much left to do….
Comparisons, competitions, are cool when we are kids, help experimenting Life. A a certain age, it stinks. Helps becoming old rotten fruits only !
)
Sera, you ARE BEAUTIFUL!!! and HOT!!!.. hehehehe can I borrow your topic for discussion for my next blog piece?
You are always an inspiration and challenge me each day to think more positive- even when I want to just eat a bag of oreos.
love you
Yeah, yeah. Let’s shower each other with complements. You scratch my back, I will scratch yours. All are happy. I’m fed up with the over-sugarness in teh photo-blogosphere. “Brilliant!”, “Incredible!”, “Great!” … blah.
~~Ìnner peace ~~ãnd beauty shines out ~`
It’s “compliments” , vz-nostalgia, not complements.
Actually it doesn’t matter. We need appraisal, it is just a human factor – stick with it.
Whenever I compare myself to others, I always come up short.
It’s so relative what / who is pretty or ugly ! This story belongs to my past when was teenager ! Do not even like thinking of that time !
great,very nice.
Pretty is as pretty does.
as long as we are not fat. LOL
Sera,
Can I borrow that blouse?
Love, Me
Everyone’s pretty!
I tihnk most people don’t care about the objective reality, preferring instead to impose their own subjective one.
Does it really matter if it is one person doing the “I’m pretty / you’re ugly mantra” or a whole nation doing the “We’re right / you’re evil” mantra?
