I really think that art is complicated and if one is an artist it is important that one does what makes their heart beat fast (what they love) and stick to it no matter what people think. Sounds kinda selfish but i think that art is weird that way.

I’ve been having quite a few discussions about what is art with my gf. We have differences of opinion on this subject. The easy way out is to say that anything can be art, personally that’s the road I take. I think if either the viewer or artist sees something as art, then it is. These conversations can get complicated, is art something that has form, content, intent?…

Rags, sums it up for me perfectly. To hell with everyone else, just do what you do because it gives you pleasure (though I would never intentionally wish to hurt or offend anyone in the process).
I tried for years to produce literary material that agents and publishers wanted, and had thirtry years of dismal failure, and letters telling me that I am utter garbage and please stop contacting them. I finally realised that they must be right, and also that I don’t care anymore, so now I write for my own selfish pleasure and have never been happier. I have no dreams of publication any longer because three decades of abuse knocks your self esteem and self worth to oblivion.
With hindsight I would have done things very differently, ignored the agents and publishers and taken a gamble on promoting myself through the web (wasn’t there in 1978), and giving it my best shot. Too late now for me, but for everyone else I say, stay true to your ideals, goals and beliefs, and be brave enough to follow those dreams at all costs, ignoring the obstacles, blinkered vision and negative attitudes of those who try to hinder your progress.
Creativity has no boundaries, there is always an audience, you just have to be stronger than I ever was, and believe in yourself. Blimey all that from me just as I’m getting ready to scrape the ice from my windshield and head off to work. My brain hurts now…… ha ha
i would pay for your comics, and i never liked comics, your comics are the comics for even people who don’t like comics, that’s how good they are, feeling depressed bebe? would you like a needle and a blanket and a hardwood floor?

This reminds me of artists like Van Gogh who never saw in their own lifetime how much their art was worth to the whole world!. It also reminds me of that wee baby who grew up and was without honor in his own country. And then there was my brother, now deceased, who not only was a photographer but courses on it in college…but who could tell you everything that was wrong with any photo of his you admired. And remember the Psalmist…the singer…who was so despondent in so many of his psalms, like a roller coaster in his emotions.

Why is it that we have to wait until some ‘expert’ says our work is Art. If we say it ourselves it becomes crap. Talk is cheap.
Art is everywhere , it depend of our vision. Art is on your space with your comics and your pics. Your text are magics and often funny ! I would pay to follow your stories , and even more if you wrote some of them in french
