Everyone has a charm to ward off evil. Some wear tiny crosses at their throats. Others wear copper bracelets to ward off disease. I know a man who won’t walk under a ladder because it’s “bad luck.” Rabbits feet were popular a century ago as good luck charms. Wearing “lucky” socks, underpants or hats are common charms against injury or defeat. I turn the other way whenever a black cat crosses my path. I cross my fingers for luck. I also cross them behind my back when I tell a white lie.
Carrying a cat whisker in the glove box of the car protects against car theft, troubles, accidents and traffic tickets.

wouldn’t want to be a cat these days then… ‘OW!!!! hey!!! that was my whisker!!!’ i have no lucky charm, but i do wear an EMF protector around my neck, to protect me from bad electricity, i don’t believe in luck, but i believe in electricity
wow that doll is spooky, you know I always thought to hell with bad signs and went against every one of them, with gigantic negative vibes I only broke at 42, so i say I had a good run
ps seriously carry an Obsedian stone in your pocket, it wards off negative energy, truly
I don’t carry any lucky charms but I like the idea of a cat whisker in the car
And I wear a silver locket on those occasions I feel I need luck or some extra moral support. Can’t hurt & seems to help – even if it’s all in my mind!
c’mon don’t be like that to the black cat LOL
Aside from being religious, I do not engage or indulge in any superstitious activities. I have no lucky underwear, no secret rituals, I don’t corss my fingers or knock on wood or consult my horrorscope, read tea leaves or otherwise spill entrails.
I feel that we bring our own luck, keep positive and bring positive things into your life..
:~)
I’m too “natural” to use elevators!
That doll creeps me out. Bad. Like way more than any old cemetery or abandon house does.
Now, this doll is getting a bad rap…I think she is grand !!!
As for charms, etc., I don’t go in for that, but, hummmm, your list has given me some food for thought !
I’m never the first one at work. I have an excuse: I think some of my co-workers actually sleep in their office.
Curious! I have no such charms.
lol, Sera: As a kid, I remember the bit about walking on top of cracks in the sidewalk and under ladders. We did so anyway (and carefully)!
I love the thought of messing with the “sensory perception of predators”! You have a very creative mind!
A rabbits foot could never be a lucky charm in my opinion, as it certainly wasn’t lucky for the poor rabbit. However, I do like the number 13
I have to confess to being completely devoid oif all supersticions, or the need for lucky charms, and I often upset people by walking under ladders, without realizing or meaning to do so. As a child though I always had a special blanket which I believed warded off the attentions of the monster ‘under’ the bed!! Luckily that fear has now passed, ha ha
I have a designer collection of tin foil hats so I always have the perfect one depending on the occasion. They’re real attention grabbers at summer weddings.
I probably do more with “omens,” Seraphine, than lucky charms. For instance, when my plane landed in Amsterdam on Saturday. it was the softest landing I have ever experienced in an airplane and I immediately said, “Now THAT is symbolic!”
I don’t have a lucky charm. I should carry one because I want to win Lotto!
my fingers are always crossed. My legs too. It’s for that i fall so often , or just i’m unlucky ?
bisous
I am extra ordinary careful around the time of the Full Moon.
That magnetic bracelet might make you even more magnetic than usual to predators. Damn you are a hot woman, Seraphine. LOL.
Hmmmm – I suppose I wear things my kids give me for luck. I don’t like the number 13, but my oldest loves it. I won’t even let my car radio volume be on #13. How bad is that?
Oh – and that doll is a little creepy looking. Sorry!
Thanks a lot for the red apple!
BiZZZZZZZZ
Ha ha…so true…we all have our fears, handed down from generations…the best charm to ward off evil is a smile and a positive attitude…nice one Sera:)
Funny to say – I do have a black cat at home, but hate when a black cat crosses a street in front of me .
hi don’t have ‘lucky charms’ but i do have comfort items and colors that i wear or carry with me for reassurance when i’m unsettled or unhappy. not that i don’t believe in luck…. i’ve just never seemed to attract it, so i don’t bother with it.
“Superstition is a credulous belief or notion, not based on reason, knowledge, or experience”. If so, I wonder why it’s still alive. Makes no sense. Medieval stuff in times of iPods and satellite TV.
Ever since we first became aware of our own ‘self consciousness’ the remnants of superstition remain as a form of a comfort or fear to play havoc with our rational being. But feeling uncomfortable in our technologically dependant world is rational enough – since we depend so much upon one another and it’s hard to rely totally on technology when there is no one else around.
Best wishes
I don’t have a good luck charm. I consider my whole self to be a good luck charm, haha. I expect to be recompensed whenever someone around me has good luck, as it is due to me and my good charminess.
Me too… thanks
