Sometimes life’s a b*tch … Condolences for you and your family and I hope your thumb will be o.k. soon, too bad it’s your right hand :( Love your strip, but I’d rather pee in my pants than sit down on such a dirty toilet ;)

A sad, sad day. But your thumb will heal and we can assume Aunt Lucille is in a better place. I think your strip is perfect for the day you had!

It’s only a few weeks since you mentioned Aunt Lucille’s liver cancer and now she’s gone. A card I bought and saved several years ago has a quote by Rabindranath Tagore, ‘Death is not extinguishing the light; it is putting out the lamp because the dawn has come’.

I hope you’re feeling better soon.

I’m sorry to hear about the loss of your aunt, Seraphine:( There’s something very true about your post, we all have to accept. I’s just a matter of how long time it will take to do so.

    Hi Sera,
first of all, sorry for your loss!
Death is always a moment of pause to experience how fragile we are, but also an opportunity to reflect on “transitions” … I leave it at that for now.
Are you left handed (I hope not, that would suck) In any case, I hope you heal expedient. The good thing is, that it was the thumb. Other fingers don’t seem to heal 100% correctly due to the more complex array of bones. So you were lucky in a way… Soak the thumb in luke-warm water with added Arnica essence, or if you don’t have that – water with sea salt. It will take the edge away and also accelerate healing. Good luck!!!
Haven’t been on blogs and such for quite a while (including my own) just wasn’t up to it, nothing personal. I have hunch that I am gradually creeping back :)

I’m sorry for the loss of your aunt, and for your hand… but I agree, sometimes you just have to accept; no one ever really has any other choice, do they? Feel better

  23. patti

I’m sorry. Sometimes life just sucks.

  24. nova

Broken thumb, broken heart. Definitely not a good day. Sending you love and hugs.

  25. Scott Schilling

That is a rough day! Sorry to hear about your Aunt Lucille! It will take time to heal from both, although I don’t think we ever heal from losing loved ones – the pain just gets a little bit less with time and we can move on with our normal daily routines.

  26. Beth

You’re so right. Sometimes all you can do is accept what happens – the “whys?” just don’t matter and will never be answered.
So sorry to hear about your Aunt – I hope that at the end, the door did close quietly…
    And sorry about your thumb.

  27. Ginnie

Acceptance is often the only way to get through this Journey called Life, Seraphine, but it sounds like you already know that! I hope your thumb and your heart both heal soon.

  28. Zhu

I’m so sorry to hear that.

Life leave scars on us. It sucks.

  29. Cheri @ Blog This Mom!

Oh, Sera. I’m so sorry about your aunt. And your thumb. I’m hugging you in my heart.

  30. gfid

Aunts are like grown-up sisters when we’re kids. Losing them is heartbreaking. So now you have a broken heart AND a broken thumb. it’s just wrong.

  31. richard

I am sorry to hear that. Seems so much bad news is going around the blog-o-sphere these days. Or maybe it just seems that way.
