Today was wonderful in the San Francisco bay area. For the first time in months, we got a “real” rain with rivulets and puddles. It rained all day, and it is forcast to rain again tomorrow. It’s been a very dry year, and we need the water.
The rain is raining all around,
It falls on field and tree,
It rains on the umbrellas here,
And on the ships at sea.
Poem by Robert Louis Stevenson, Rain
The monotone of the rain is beautiful,
And the sudden rise and slow relapse
Of the long multitudinous rain.
Poem by Carl Sandburg, Monotone
The night rain, dripping unseen,
Comes endlessly kissing my face and my hands.
Poem by D.H. Lawrence, Embankment at Night, before the War

ok, so i was the first one here for sera coming out of the closet? or is this something that’s new to ME only… ‘do you have a boyfriend?’ har har.. can we say AWKWARD
brilliant stuff!!!
Great work and I like the different photos of the tree – kind of an abstract feel to the images. The rain today was awesome – we had 4 inches just today in the Morgan Hill area south of San Jose! After such a long dry spell I am looking forward to green hills early this year! Great work and take care!
very good work mate
happy rainy day , Sera !
Oh dear, will they never learn?
Rain! Rain! Rain! The rain inspires artists!
Very good job …
The world keeps turning Sera and questions are always the same …
Riders On The Storm…
Some moms can ask some awkward questions. I was visiting a friend with my GF (now wife) and her mother asked Sofia how long she had been in Canada (less than a year) and then turned to her daughter and said, “Look, she already has a boyfriend!”
Over tha past 7 weeks, I tink it has rained on 4 or 5 days in MAdrid (very little rain, most like a small misting). To be honest, I Am not missing rain. I like the sun. Of course, maybe iut is because we had sucha cold and rainy Summer in Canada that I am glad to have some nice weather.
Hahaha!! What a situation! How do you figure out these embarrassing things!!
Arf !! the mothers are inquisitives… and blinds !
There are people incapable of seeing what is right in front of them – they’re wearing blinders.
Have you ever stood in the rain and let it “kiss” you – á la D.H. Lawrence? Wonderful sensation.
You can have our rain if you like. I am awaiting the end of this rain season.
It’s rather like the first question asked of new parents – is it a boy or a girl? What if it’s neither? The world might be a happier place if we weren’t compelled to affix labels right from the first instant.
I don’t mind rain. I just don’t like being wet.
I’m a sucker for Stevenson’s poem. The rhythm alone is beautiful and reminds me so much of being a child. As for rain, I love Autumn rain. It’s so much lonelier than Spring rain. I hope this finds you well… ~h
So pretty! I love the rain!
We are also listening to the sound of the falling rain signaling the lifting of a drought – so long as it’s not raining in your heart it’s all good news.
Best wishes
Beautiful shot! I love the rainy air.
That is why rain stopped here ( finally ) . Enjoy it

Pretty shots of the rain!
Ouch, the last line is a killer
Yes the rain was wonderful. I kept my door open all day to hear it. I love that sound. The best was when i was hanging out downtown when i was just out of highschool and we had this artists commune sort of metal roofed warehouse we made our headquarters. Every time it rained it was so loud i just lay there on the floor completely relaxed. What i wouldn’t give to go back to that.
