Maybe its the change in weather. Winter. Icy fingers inches away, ready to grab you.
An aged man now entered, and without
One word, stept slowly on, and took the wrist
Of the pale maiden. She looked up, and saw
The fillet of the priest and calm cold eyes.
Then turned she where her parent stood, and cried
“O father! grieve no more: the ships can sail.”
Poem by Walter Savage Landor, Iphigeneia

Is that a flannel flower?
I happen to know what’s causing my sense of impending doom and it’s neither the weather nor health concerns. I’m determined to shake it off. It’s either that or fall flat on my face. The latter option is not at all appealing.
wow u are obviously a brilliant artist!!!!! i’m very impressed…but the one at the top of the dying sunflower, that was a photograph right? well done yoiu!!!
I wake up every morning grumpy because I’m cold.
I guess I could always turn the heat on.
Creative work!!! I hope I would get the right hint!^_^
This is intense imagry Sera. Love your new dashboard.
When do you do your work on this site? Each day at the same time? At work? Middle of the night? By telekinisis?
The last time I heard the name Iphigeneia it was on an album called the Wurst of PDQ Bach. The cantata was called Iphigeneia in Brooklyn. I think you might like it.
Very nice pictures once again, you genius you.
Love the photo of the dying flower. Death is beautiful too.
Seraphine, You take me away on the path of the English language “Impeding doom” what’s that? Some dictionaries later, even google translation is not known, eureka! I found it! … And I have not found a thistle on my way!
I am so sorry you have to experience Winter!! I like to see Winter, but not feel it.
I’m a fan of the withered and cold myself. But I remember the doom it used to bring with it…
lastly, that’s a rather vivid & bloody head you’ve created.
p.s. thank you for the poem you left me on my other blog. it certainly made me grin.
A prominent psychic predicted that UFO’s would land in New York within the next 24 months.
I predict they’ll take one look around and vaporize the planet.
Impending doom indeed.
Hey, Seraphine, I’ll have to send you one of those new doom-proof vests; works like a charm for me… been doom-free for several weeks now.
here is getting hot…
Seraphine: I had a Philosophy Professor in college who used to hold classes with us sitting on the lawn outside in the summer. He’d open the class by saying “Anybdy have anything new?” (this was followed by silence). So, he continued. “I heard the Flat Earth Society threw in the towel and disbanded”. But seriously, our temps here in the desert are back down to 90 degrees and I’m feeling better about it.
)
A gloom lifted by a hopeful fighting English poet “Never, England, have you reached the peaks of glory with more noble gasps of exertion; never have more gallant soldiers
served under commanders more incompetent.”
We can always find reasons for rays of hope to lift the feelings of gloom.
Best wishes
oh well somebody tell my why i have my anxiety attacks. ack!
It is definitely the change of weather and the fact days are getting shorter.
Or maybe the world will end in 2012 and I’m just making excuses.
I like what you’ve done with the place.
Just say no to doom.
BRILLIANT but DARK…great work:)
