The Giant Step

Some people are ambitious. They take big steps. Others are content with whatever life offers them. They take smaller steps. Either way, being valuable and productive still means being able to move your feet. The first step, that giant one that gives you direction, is always the hardest one to make.
Ambition is an expensive impulse, one that requires an enormous investment of emotional capital. Like any investment, it can pay off in countless different kinds of coin. The trick, as any good speculator will tell you, is recognizing the riches when they come your way.
Quotation from Ambition: Why Some People Are Most Likely To Succeed (Time Magazine)
P.S. No matter what it is you do, if you do it well enough, you can make money at it.
Final note: The wine industry is very, very big in California.

The first big step or be it a series of smaller ones are usually the result of encouragement from another.
“ In everyone’s life, at some time, our inner fire goes out. It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being. We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.” Albert Schweitzer”
Best wishes
The important thing to remember, it seems to me, is that provided you have sufficient for your needs, money is a minor consideration. Quality of life is the name of the game
PS nice frog
Did you ever play “Mother May I?” as a kid?
Hated it when told to take steps backward or when I forgot to say, “Mother May I?”
Don’t recall making it to the finish line very often but was always game to play again!
your friend has a nice butt
Hmmm I love a nice red with Pasta…although your female cartoons are hot, I don’t imagine they eat pasta ?
k, maybe i’m a little slow…. i love your art, and you have a unique angle on everything…. visual and philosophical…. but i only just got it now… why your stuff is so thought provoking and unforgettable…. it’s the deadpan. your characters take on topics that are emotional political, personal, and sometimes disturbing…. but they do it in perfect Limey deadpan. and that makes the punch hit even harder. as the Celts say, “weel doon!” (translation, well done!)
I should do that: find a day job where I can do stuff pertaining to beer (even if it’s just marketing or something).
gf is right on the money about the deadpan. You are a sly and clever woman.
ps – there’s an etsy as of the weekend. I’m still shy
Great work and good points – It gives me hope that someday I can make a living again!
“No matter what it is you do, if you do it well enough, you can make money at it.”
This is exactly what I needed to hear tonight. Thank you.
Seraphine: One of the reasons I moved away from the city of my youth was that people there just enjoy being so complacent. They never travel out of their comfort zones. One of the HUGE qualities I admire about you is your ability to take that first-step…ALWAYS! lol!
Fight apathy!
