I love roadside stands that sell fresh fruit, vegetables, eggs and flowers. Some growers use an honor system: take what you want, leave some money on the table. It seems to work, since most people are honest.

A nice ending for the kiddo! I once tried taking some clean rags and a bottle of Windex, a chair and an overturned cardboard box (for my table) with an offer to clean windshields for 10 cents. My sister drove up (my only customer). I washed her windshield, she paid me and drove off. No one else cared to partake of my services. So, I got bored and closed shop!

Just had sweet corn last night from one of those stands – hard to believe such an honour system still exists. Restores (a little bit) of my faith in humanity.
I have the best fruit stands here in Costa Rica. And the cheapest too, amazing.
Man, you have got to be a complete a-hole to attack them like that about freakin lemonade. I am lucky there is a really good farmers market here in San Jose. The best corn i have ever had and awesome fruit. Just wish it was every day rather than only on Sunday.
