Sadly, the global supply of swine flu vaccine won’t be able to meet demand. The health care industry will sell into market demand, so the vaccine will disproportionately reach those wealthy enough to afford it. Ultimately, it may prove poor public policy if the swine flu is allowed to flourish in overcrowded developing countries, where the disease could ultimately mutate into something even more deadly.

Your comic is cynical today but I’m sure some thought of it this way. As a born socialist, I still can’t believe one of the greatest country on earth discriminates when it comes to health care. And once again, it comes down to money…
hmmm… smacks of eugenics
I’d go along with Zhu above. Pointedly to the point Sera, good stuff.
very dark today huh? swine flu here is old news. i guess we are lucky that the strain that reached us was very mild.
Isn’t this always the case?
Like so many, Sera, I keep thinking, “There has to be a way to make this work and work well for everyone involved”. I have faith it can be done. Especially for children with cancer. So many of their treatments are not covered. There is an alternate steroid that is so promising. One of my friends begged to have it released to his daughter for “compassionate use”. She died the day it was released to her and the FDA refuses to respond to written inquiries for others to have access. Let’s hope hearts can be accessed on this issue.
Perhaps they should just allow everybody with insurance to adopt somebody without it while they get this mess cleared up.
Sadly its not far from the truth of how they think.
