Is it strange that some people seek to have relationships with high-profile criminals, including murderers and rapists? Scott Peterson, convicted of murdering his wife Laci and their unborn son Conner, has received at least three marriage proposals while on death row at San Quentin prison. Both Erik and Lyle Menendez, brothers convicted of murdering their parents, got married while in prison. Maybe marrying somebody famous (or dangerous) makes you feel special…
Squeaky Fromme Soon Out of Prison (SFGate.com) Fromme stood vigil at the Charles Manson trial and, like other supporters, carved an “X” on her forehead as a sign of solidarity. Manson, who had recruited her off the streets in Southern California, called her “Squeaky” because of her voice.
When I was a Crisis Intervention Hotline Counselor completing my Fieldwork requirement as a Psych major in college, I took a call from a girl who just couldn’t understand why a certain mass murderer wasn’t answering her letters from prison. It was a frustrating call. I can’t believe Fromme is being released.
People like Manson apparently get thousands of letters a year- mostly from women! and you often see marriage proposals or girlfriends attracted to notorious criminals. Maybe it’s to do with the fact these high profile prisoners are confined and can’t stray too far away.

This is all I can come up with as to why anyone would want a convicted murderer for a spouse.

the mind boogles! i’ve often thought about this topic – why?!?
does it have to do with socialization of women to want to be
saviors – some sort of messiah complex or possibly quite a few
women have masochistic leanings – or these men are at a safe
distance with little chance for parole so it is easy to develop
fantasies that will essentially stay fantasies – can’t tell you,
however, very disturbing indeed.
Ya i would say those people need to step back and take a long look at themselves before moving forward. You would have to have some serious weirdness in your soul to do that.
these things can only be understood by people who hear the same inner voices.
What can I say?
People are crazy.
Not all – but more than you’d hope.
It would be superb if helpful people are attracted to potential heavy duty criminals before they even commit a violent crime.
