People who think they don’t photograph well have nobody to blame other than themselves. There is an art to looking good in front of the camera. That is why models are told to practice their poses in front of a mirror. Practice makes perfect.
The queen was the most beautiful woman in all the land, and very proud of her beauty. She had a mirror, which she stood in front of every morning, and asked:
Mirror, mirror, on the wall,
Who in this land is fairest of all?
And the mirror always said:
You, my queen, are fairest of all.
And then she knew for certain that no one in the world was more beautiful than she.
Quotation from Wilhelm Grimm, Little Snow White

And then there was Photoshop. And it was good.
You need to reflect on that
If you hold another mirror at right angles to the mirror you’re facing, you can get a better idea of how others (and cameras) see you. I always do this before I get my picture taken, so there will be no surprises.
Holy antique, Batman! That’s a pisser of a great bed.
..hence why I don’t let others photograph me.
For me, it’s the opposite. I don’t look the same in the mirror as I do in photographs.
and why is it my voice on the answering machine message sounds nothing like me?
Now that I’m thin, pull out the camera!
