Aldous Huxley called Chastity the most unnatural of all the sexual perversions. It’s either that or my sudden addiction to animal crackers.
[Virginity] pledgers apparently gather strength from the sense that they are an embattled minority; once their numbers exceed thirty percent, and proclaimed chastity becomes the norm, that special identity is lost… Once the self-proclaimed virgin clique hits the thirty-one percent mark, suddenly it’s Sodom and Gomorrah.
Quotation from Margaret Talbot, Red Sex, Blue Sex (The New Yorker)

Why are there never any scandals (or we never hear of any) as to the vow of chastity nuns take but we do re: priests? Your post has me pondering this…
P.S. Of course I read that book! You should have recommended another one.
They can always make the stakes higher in their sad little world of self deprivation. Hair shirts and a good thrashing once a day with a cat o’ nine tails should do the trick.
Virginity is under-rated. I’m seriously thinking of re-becoming one.
Did you ever hear the story of the two monks out walking a mountain path? At the edge of a raging stream they met a young woman unable to cross. The older monk picked her up and carried her to the other side. Several miles further along the younger monk asked, ‘Why did you carry that girl when it is forbidden to us to touch women?’ To which the old monk answered, ‘I was able to put her down whereas you were obviously not.’
Virtue is of the heart, not the body parts.
So, the more virgins there are, the less special they feel, and the more encouraged they are to have sex?
this is just so disturbing. LOL
My boss is insane then. Definitely.
