I hate brain farts, those momentary lapses in memory that come at the most embarrassing times. This is also called maladaptive brain activity, and it affects, apparently, the tongue. As in, I can’t remember your name, but it’s right at the tip of my tongue.
Scientists decode brain farts (MSNBC Health) Up to 30 seconds before your goof, the brain starts acting abnormally.

Now what exactly was I going to write here?
I just know there was something
Have I been here before?
Where is this anyway?
I guess it’s nice to know my brain is attempting to “save effort on a task” on my behalf but it can lead to some awkward moments.
It’s definitely nice to know there’s a medical term (maladaptive brain activity) for my brain farts.
That tip of the tongue thing? My sisters and I used to stick out our tongues and say, “Can you see it? It’s right there!”
LOL very interesting. did you also know that sometimes when you go to a place and forget what you are going to do there, or similar to forgetting suddenly, it is because you suffered from some form of a very mild stroke that caused your circulation or neurons to stop momentarily. ack!
How do we know each other again?
In some places in the world this common occurrence is avoided by people semi-introducing themselves again, ie ‘Hello (touching upper chest), Susan, how are you?’ It sounded okay to me but still doesn’t help when you’re trying to introduce a couple of people who have both been friends of yours for years and you can’t remember either name. Aphasia makes sense but is creepy.
Oh, I had so many of these moments! I’m bad at remembering names and I can have a long conversation thinking “but who ARE you”
I just had one the other day. Someone asked me my birthday and i couldn’t remember for about 5 seconds, lol. I was just ahhhh oh ya! So freeakin lame. Good thing i don’t mind laughing at myself. If i cared more what people think of me maybe i would be more embarrassed but i just laugh it off.
