How many people have actually been tested for “Selective Hearing?” It’s that condition commonly referred to as “hearing only what you want to hear.” It affects primarily males, but it’s not entire to men.
Why do all men have selective hearing? (Daily Mail Online)
The hearing ear is always found close to the speaking tongue; and no genius can long or often utter anything which is not invited and gladly entertained by men around him.
Quotation from Ralph Waldo Emerson, English Traits

I use apple-scented shampoo. I’m going to wind up getting misdiagnosed for having fruit-scented ears.

Which means “I threw a dart at you.”

Before my sister was diagnosed with cancer, our dog used to sniff around her stomach a bit. Later on, when we found out that she had a tumor in her stomach, we wondered if the dog had “smelled” it beforehand.
Disease and cancer stink!
I occassionally suffer from Labyrinthytis…an infection of the inner ear that makes you feel seasick and dizzy. Your equilibrium is shot. Ears are fascinating pathways to our senses and it’s incredible what happens when they don’t work properly. Selective or not
I don’t suffer from selective hearing. I am (deliberately) afflicted with selective acknowledgment of what I hear and respond to.
Hmmm…. Can ear wax smell like cynicism and sarcasm?
I just syringe it! Does that mean we are cured? I feel a song coming on …”Wax gets in your ears.”
Sorry what did you say?
If seeing is believing then what’s hearing?
hellooo! Is anybody out there?
I’m only dreaming.
They say on average men only speak about 50% of the words as women so by the end the day a man’s hearing is limited to only vague recollections of those feminine dulcet tones. There are exceptions of course, but hard to find. Best wishes
A lot of people suffer from selective hearing, even when it is harmful.
