I wouldn’t last long in customer service. I do not suffer fools gladly – nor verbal abuse. But I am a very polite customer – until pushed to my limit.

The funny thing about customer service is that there are people who just don’t get the fact that if your a total ass then you are not going to get good customer service. In fact most people in that job will then go out of their way to insure you get some really horrible service. So why these people act like that is beyond me. When i worked those jobs back in the day i was sure to get my revenge on you if you were a total jerkoff and got in my face. It just doesn’t pay to nasty to people you need help from. I mean it should be basic logic but for some reason these people think they can look down on you for having a job like that. BIG mistake.

Most customers are demanding and rude (in my exp) and no one in retail gets paid enough to put up with that kind of crap. Being polite is a lesson that is no longer taught in schools to our shame.

Seraphine: Reminds me of Southwest Airline’s now-retired founder and CEO Herb Kelleher who stated in the book “Nuts” (the story of Southwest) that “the customer is not always right”. I had the pleasure of meeting Herb and he was funny and cool! Also, I’m a leg man. So maybe The Univese led me to this post!

I think that the customer is always right idea is very American. I’m many countries, customers are usually a bother.
