If you like someone despite (or perhaps because of) their faults, it’s said you like them “warts and all.” Well… some people hate warts. They prefer the illusion of perfection. Women especially measure their self esteem by how they think they look. Learning to hunt giraffes, the beautiful animal in all of us, is essential to health and self confidence.
At War with Our Bodies (SureWoman.com article by Alicia Howard)
Tomorrow I will discover Sunset Boulevard… hands read, feet manicured, elbows massaged, faces lifted, warts removed, fat reduced, insteps raised, corsets fitted, busts vibrated, corns removed, hair dyed, glasses fitted, soda jerked, hangovers cured, headaches driven away, flatulence dissipated, limousines rented, the future made clear, the war made comprehensible, octane made higher and butane lower, drive in and get indigestion, flush the kidneys, get a cheap car-wash, stay-awake pills and go-to-sleep pills, Chinese herbs are very good for you and without a Coca-Cola life is unthinkable.
Quotation from Henry Miller, Soirée in Hollywood

I always knew males were very strange creatures indeed.
flatulence dissipated?
I never knew I like giraffes!
The more cosmetic “enhancement” one has done to one’s body, the less likely one is able to find that beautiful giraffe. Lose your true and natural body, lose your soul…
I will pass on the warts (they’re removable anyway)
but don’t mind the wrinkles
every one tells a story
and so much more pleasant than a face/body that looks as if it is going to burst out of its skin
The pursuit of perfection is amusing. It is most definitely an illusion. Those who seek it have my sympathy, you will never be happy. Most women have at least one feature that is attractive. The trick is to concentrate on that aspect and lose yourself in it. Not always possible but worth the effort. I usually start with the eyes. If a woman has beautiful eyes its usually enough for me
“Learning to hunt giraffes, the beautiful animal in all of us, is essential to health and self confidence. ”
I like the sound of that!!! I’ll have to remember it.
PS, In Swahili, you say twiga for giraffe. Twee-ga.
I love this one. Nice images my talented friend.
U R brilliant.
Ack. I’m a green monster with glasses! Is that sort of giraffe-ish?
I read today about mri studies of men looking at pictures of women in bikinis and having the tool using sections of their brains light up. Does that sound strange to you too? I’d rather hunt a giraffe myself.
Hehehe, I totally agree:-)
As always, i love your work.
It is so right and it is not healthy, for sure…
The little donkey looks so cute, Seraphine. And the Henry Miller quote is quite funny, hollywood criticism? I’ve been addicted to coca cola once, not a healthy habit to drink it every day!
Only you could pull off something as cool as a quote from Henry Miler, Seraphine! Dissipated flatulence and limos! That really IS “Sunset Boulevard”!
