Everything I understand, I understand with words, though there are words beyond words and more misunderstandings than understandings.
Were you thinking that those were the words—
those upright lines? those curves, angles, dots?
No, those are not the words—the substantial words are in the ground and sea,
They are in the air— they are in you.
Quotation from Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass
Into a daybreak that’s wondrously clear
I rise
Bringing the gifts that my ancestors gave,
I am the dream and the hope of the slave.
I rise
I rise
I rise.
Poem by Maya Angelou, Still I Rise

Words have limitations – just as do our emotions, body language, and intuition which also profoundly influence our communication. I don’t think a relationship depends solely upon the words spoken, for there is the unspoken word, which goes without saying.
Not least are our actions and intentions- actions that speak louder than words.
Best wishes
I think the only words I am ever afraid of in a relationship are – “We need to talk.” They are killers, I tell you. Because the unspoken words behind these spoken words are – “This is over now.”
“Words alone are certain good.” W.B. Yeats
I used to believe this. Now, I’m not so sure. Walt Whitman’s “words” seem more fitting, more true…
What about feelings?
Words can make it all clear and words can make a confusion!
As soon as I saw the title for this post, I got that Madonna song in my head. From her Erotica album. Now I can’t get it out, thanks.
I don’t know what to say, I just lost my word.
Words are tools!
Clumsy unweildy words. But they’re often all we’ve got.
