I was near the cat enclosure when the earthquake happened. One of the cats got out of her cage. Thankfully, I didn’t have to confront a frightened cat. I saw the monkeys out of the cage, however, and somebody told me the glass cages broke in the snake house. “There are poisonous snakes loose” she said.

The quotation in today’s comic is from the poem Is it Well with the Child? by Christina Georgina Rossetti.

those cracks are pretty damn impressive
I’m so glad you weren’t inside that restaurant waiting for chimichangas or something when that all happened. As the Resident’s said, ‘Safety is the cootie-wootie.’
Wow, what a picture-story! I am so glad you didn’t fall into one of these cracks.
I guess “shake it up little baby” was totally misunderstood by mother nature.
oh my gosh, the cracks look crazy!! there was a huge earthquake that happened in taiwan years ago, and i remember seeing similar cracks like that afterwards, unfortunately many lives were lost
I thought you’d have written the little verse yourself, as you’re quite talented with lyric! The earthquake sounds scary, but glad you were safe.
Amazing shots from seemingly previous tranquility; reminders from your rich mixture of words , images , text and evocative art of earths violent eruptions. Resplendant beauty yet fraglie and terrifying in power and destruction.
Best wishes
It does remind you of how precious life is and of how lucky we are when you are that close to a disaster. So glad you are ok.
That must have been really scary.
It reminds me of going to Boquete, Panamá, right after the floods. Mother nature CAN get mad…
It’s so easy for many to compare this earthquake to others. But each is scary and unique. Most of all, Seraphine, I am glad youare Okay! lol!
