I hate having bad dreams. Usually, I can tell them to go away but still they sneak up on me. I know subconsciously we learn to master our fears through dreaming. I know too, just as planes crash and cities get buried under mud, sometimes nightmares are real. They scare me.

I was like a social worker for lepers. My clients had a chunk of their body they wanted to give away; for a price I was there to receive it. Crimes, sins, nightmares, hunks of hair: it was surprising how many of them has something to dispose of. The more I charged, the easier it was for them to breathe freely once more.
Quotation from Tama Janowitz, Slaves of New York

True story: The husband and I were on vaca this summer. And any time we stay in a hotel, no matter how nice or slummy (we’ve stayed in slummy), we ALWAYS check the sheets.
This particular night it was late. We had been driving non-stop and were dead tired. Nevertheless, when we checked into our room, we pulled down the blankets and inspected the sheets. And the pillow cases. And the mattress. We pulled back the mattress cover and scoured the bare polyester with our eyes.
That’s when we saw it. A tiny little bed bug. CRAWLING.
We ran out of that room and didn’t look back. That was my first, and hopefully my last, encounter with a bed bug.
PS – that slide show you posted was way gross. Ick.
Some friends of mine went to Sri Lanka for a couple of months and stayed as paying guests in several homes as they traveled the country. It was interesting to learn that people who wear shoes rather than sandals are advised to shake them out before wearing since millipedes like to crawl inside at night. I think I’m unable to consider spending time in a hot climate.
My bad dreams always offer me inspiration.
I don’t enjoy them at the time, but I like analysing them afterwards to see if I can work out what the hell stressed me out. I hate spiders … ick!
I so rarely dream, I’m grateful for them, even if they’re bad.
those slide shows are great. though the one on gout freaked me out…
Bed bugs are unstoppable
and sleep is impossible
No bed bugs here, Seraphine, but I have nightmares now and then as well.. The best thing is when you wake up and don’t remember them though.
i hate it too, but sometimes it happens…
a kiss girl!
Isn’t it amazing how nightmares effect you entire being? My heart
always starts pumping double time.
I love my nightmares. It feels so good when the same one tries to come after me again and i squash it down like an insect.
So your nightmares are about spiders?
