I bought a nice new computer. But Adobe’s Creative Suite CS2 isn’t compatible with Window’s Vista operating system. I’ve only had this extremely expensive software for two years and it’s already “obsolete.” It costs $600 to upgrade. Yeah, I think that sucks.
Despair is perfectly compatible with a good dinner, I promise you.
Quotation from William Makepeace Thackeray, Lovel the Widower
For wisdom is the property of the dead,
A something incompatible with life; and power,
Like everything that has the stain of blood,
A property of the living; but no stain
Can come upon the visage of the moon
When it has looked in glory from a cloud.
Poem by William Butler Yeats, Blood and the Moon

Yeats rocks.

Hey Sera,
I use Vista also and have Photoshop running which was written for Microsoft NT … and it works!
It’s the CS2 Suite – 9.0.2 (and then it says version 6 somewhere). I have a clone drive and could make you a copy. I guess I wasn’t supposed to say that in public, but since you already payed your royalties, I see no harm in it.
The other thing is, Vista lets you actually install a program that is only compatible to older versions of Window. It should automatically pop up as a question once you load CS2 and use “autorun”.
Other than that, I pretty much think that Vista is pathetic. Whenever I plug something in or out, it says “you plugged something in or out” – dahhh, as if didn’t know! Stupid!
Well, good luck then. If you need more specific help, e-mail me.

The fact that the tech support didn’t verify the O/S before recommending any fixes indicates a degree of incompetence that disgusts the hell out of me. He or she should be called out on it before wasting any more customer time and/or potentially screwing up someone’s system permanently. Grr.

Hehe, got to love incompetent t.s. It seems to be the norm these days to hire jackoffs who have no clue what they are talking about.
The computer software issue gets really old as well. I mean how hard is it to anticipate compatibility issues like yours? Not very! If you actually give a shyte about your customers. Most companies couldn’t care less. Thankfully there is still a large community of computer savvy people out there that love to create work arounds and cracks to make up for their incompetence.
Love Yeats, one of my favorites.
sometimes i suffer hard about the technology and compatibility…that´s modern life

It sucks big time. I still run Window XP because apparently Visa isn’t compatible with a lot of my Chinese word processing softwares…
I know what you are feeling, that happened to me once!
Soon WE will become obsolete!!!

downgrade your vista to XP instead. You’ll be much happier.
Yeah, I miss my XP in a big way. Vista is one step remved from Dial Up. I even bought a magazine at the grocery with a cover story on how to speed up Vista. What a waste. There is a way of using XP outside of Vista. When I figure it out, I’ll give ya a holler!
Udge probably has the best idea since you have the computer you have.. but what do I know since I still use crayons? We had PC’s for years but my husband really hated MS more and more as time went by so now we have Apples and OSX.
The comic today really is beautiful.

I like the quote, ‘It’s not how compatible you are but how you deal with incompatibility………..I have to remind myself of that many times in today’s complicated world. But it needn’t be the case if IT solution sellers took a more holistic approach. I understand your frustration, and think its high time these guys become more focused on the total market and the damage that sort of nonsense causes.
Best wishes
