I’m curious. I love America. It’s a wonderful country.
But raise your hand if you thought “Global Economy”
meant that the rest of the world would have to bail
America out of trouble because it’s “too big to fail.”
Yeah, that surprised me too. We’re all in this together.
Is America Too Big to Fail? (International Herald Tribune)
I’m a failure as a woman. My men expect so much of me, because of the image they’ve made of me—and that I’ve made of myself—as a sex symbol. They expect bells to ring and whistles to whistle, but my anatomy is the same as any other woman’s and I can’t live up to it.
Quotation from Marilyn Monroe

The rest of the world has been living with the consequences of America’s actions for years – this isn’t just a recent economic thing…

America let greed prevail (in it’s Market Places) for a very long time. The rest of the world will suffer as a result … over time … and it will be all of the ordinary people who pay the price. Here, there and everywhere.
Poor Marilyn came from an era that didn’t understand … you don’t “live up” to the amoeba brains of Men. You have to lower your sights down in order to even make a remote bit of sense of them. Lol!

Bail you out? Pah! We’re too busy watching our own economies crumble.

Ow, I love this comic, and I agree with you. As for the Marilyn’s quote, it reminded me of another quote, one from Rita Hayworth, on what she says something like “men sleep with Gilda, but wake up with me”.

Well, it’s not just one country having to bail the other out. It’s also people having to bail the company’s out. It just seems to wrong that when the financial institutions make the big bucks, they pay themselves bonuses of millions of dollars (and actually, they still seem to do it when they don’t make the big bucks). Yet, when they’re in trouble, it’s tax payers money that is needed to bail them out. There is something terribly wrong about that.

Oh, I love both the graphics and the text on this one! This is so true…
I don’t believe in the “us vs. them” dichotomy… as I think it’s the best way to become narrow-minded and to lose touch of what the world is really about. Cf. Bush.
It’s amazing that once in the USA, if you don’t try to read medias from all over the world, you feel isolated and against the world.
