Pain. Free.

Pain is a Catch-22: You’re damned if you don’t feel it. You’re damned
if you do. Pain is the great analogy metaphor for the human condition.
Thank heavens for pain medication.

I know God will not give me anything I can’t handle.
I just wish that He didn’t trust me so much.

Quotation from Mother Teresa

I have found the paradox, that if you love until it hurts,
there can be no more hurt, only more love.

Another quotation from Mother Teresa

p.s. I’m away for a few days.

I’m still thinking over that second quotation of Mother Theresa’s.

As for pain? The rug thing (sometimes) works for awhile - then out comes the pain meds.

I actually don’t mind a bit of pain once in a while. Makes us feel alive, and it’s much better than feeling nothing.

Pain can be useful. It tells me if i worked out hard enough. But generally i don’t use medications for pain unless it just gets too nagging. If you use a pain med for too long it loses its effectiveness. Just like any drug you need higher doses to get the same result. Not a good situation. Doctors throw drugs at everything now. I hate going to the doctor for that reason. Love that first quote from Mother Teresa. Very amusing.

You’re reflecting on pain a lot. I can relate to some of what you’re getting at .. .and some of the comments.

I do know that we don’t need to seek pain to grow - it will find us.

I like that quote by Mother Teresa. It’s so wise. I’ve been reading lots of Deepak Chopra lately and it has a lot of stuff like today’s posts.
I’d rather feel pain than nothing…but like you said, thank heavens for pain killers. At the very first sign of a headache, I reach for the Tylenol (I have bad allergies, and I always get sinus headaches)…I’m not very tough.

What a great wisdom of Mother Theresa, I keep it in mind when I have to take care of a family member again about whom I feel sometimes reluctant to go to because it feels as if he takes all your energy away. What I pick up from this is: pain is only pain when you experience it as such. Sounds fair, but I find it sometimes sooo difficult! And that with the little painies that I sometimes have.
