Even Superheroes Feel (Pain)
Three more things that don’t respond to drugs:
Aging, the weather and whining. I wonder
if an extra-strength placebo would work?
Nathan Radke claims that Charlie Brown is an existentialist in Sartre & Peanuts. (Philosophy Now)
Now the drugs don’t work
They just make you worse
But I know I’ll see your face again.
Lyrics from The Verve, The Drug Don’t Work
I feel your pain.
Quotation from President Bill Clinton (frequently ridiculed)
I’m away for a few days. Thank you T. for inspiring today’s comic.

Thanks for reminding us of those wonderful comic strip musings, true to life’s existence; I had almost forgotten Peanuts, Snoopy, philosophical Linus and Lucy with a ‘security blanket’.
The reference as usual was interesting to read.
I think Kierkegaard, who was focused on alternative ideas to his faith (advocating a leap in faith as opposed to the rigidity in doctrines espoused by the nationalized Danish church) would be regarded more as a theologian rather than as a existentialist philosopher. Similarly I also don’t think Schulz was an existentialist philosopher, although he certainly experienced life’s pains as was evident in his characters who at times told us it was okay to feel discontented during what was then considered to be a period of unrivalled prosperity.
To that extent he was, as we all are, philosophers.
Best wishes

Are people who anxiously cling to fundamentalistic values maybe anxious to accept individual responsibility, seeing themselves as a tool in the hands of the Great Pumpkin? Maybe we are all fundamentalists fleeing for a life such as Charly Brown’s. Either we put the Great Pumpkin between parentheses and bother about other things such as blogging and family care, or we consider everything we think and do as the result of what Great Pumpkin does with us, or wants us to do. “Wants us to do” implies also an own responsibility, we can live with when placing the Great Pumpkin between parantheses, but becomes unbearable if we want to meet his superhuman demands. Of course drugs won’t help.

No drugs for so many things… I think that it is important to feel some kind for pain… it can make us grow and get strong… but I don`t like it!
