If you value my advice, do what you want.

Today’s comic was suggested and written by Golfwidow. Everyone
needs validation. When we ask a friend for advice, we want an honest opinion.
We also want encouragement that we’re on the right path.

Golfwidow is an accomplished author. You can purchase her book here:
==> Getting My Think On by Sondra Harris. (P.S. This is not a paid ad)

Note to Nurse Myra: Yes, the header photography is (almost) always my work.
The lone exception was a red convertible “stock” photo used in one of my early comics.

Lastly, I did another “Guest Strip” over at Wireheads this week, starring Chase. Go see. Go see.

    I like this sequence.
Advice is usually something you seek from others where you already know the answer deep within yourself.

So true. We often already know what we want to do, but we would still like others to agree with it.

What’s that freaky cage in the comic, Sera? It scares me.

    This is very true Sera.
I have to admit that I feel that (most likely) in all my life the only person who really gave me honest opinions and disinterested advice was my mother. It’s a real pity to recognize after all these years that I never (even wanted to) follow them.

Your comic tells a truth we easily overlook. Yesterday I saw a TV reprotage in which it was proven by a committee of acknowledged experts that a father had been in prison for incest for 15 years NOT guilty, because the police, the prosecutor and the judges very, very selectively only looked for, and police even constructed, the “truth” they wanted to hear and discarded everything else, even very convincing advices of several experts. Even now the committee had done their work, after 15 years the juridical system keeps maintaining that they did the right thing and that the verdict of the judge was right just because juridical verdicts must always be right. Unbelieveable!!

People do this same thing with doctors I think. If someone is told that he has cancer, he gets a second opinion, which is smart, but you never hear of someone getting a second opinion if he’s told that he’s healthy.

Checked out your “Guest Strip.” Well done!

I’m at that point in life where I’m leery about giving advice. Listening to advice and being able to hear the truth seem to be at odds with one another.

Nothing annoys me more than someone asking my opinion of something and then bitching about the answer. I am always gonna give a straight up answer so if you don’t like honesty don’t freakin ask me.

The guest strip is pretty funny. Quite an outfit on her.

  11. Ras Says:

Thats true about second or more opinions. We do look for what we want in them.

I always try to refrain from giving advice. Usually, I never know what to say, and I figure most people really don’t want advice, and really they just want an ear to listen.

I loved your “Guest Strip.” You’re so amazing, Sera.

That’s a law! If you want to make a career in politics you act like this, and ignore or put in jail advisers with the “wrong” advises.
