Miss Connection

Airlines are charging customers for extra baggage.
Phone companies should charge extra if customers
use their cell phones in restaurants and theaters.

ER docs warn of serious injuries, deaths from text-message mishaps (msnbc)

Love and hatred are not blind, but are blinded by the fire they bear within themselves.
Quotation from Friedrich Nietzsche, Sämtliche Werke: Kritische Studienausgabe

I feel ancient, as though I had
Lived many lives.
And may never now know
If I am a fool
Or have done what my karma demands.

Poem by Gary Snyder, December at Yase

that quote is true, their is so much fire in the emotions. i agree, there’s enough typing on the
computer without me adding my cell to yhe mix.

I find that people using restaurants and theatres are quite disrespectful to other people, some of them don’t really care how other people feel…

Add buses and trains to that list. I hate having to listen to people’s drama while I’m on the bus or train. I have enough of my own drama in my own life to have to listen to other people’s. A little peace and quiet would be nice.

I tend to think that the sort of people who text a lot in public places would be pretty rude even if they didn’t have phones.

Morning, Seraphine! No, I don’t text. And I don’t ever walk into a grocery, restaurant or anywhere really with my cell phone to my ear. I find it so rude. And you make such a good point. You sound like that rare person who is sweet and conscientious to others and I hope you never change that wonderful quality, even when others behavior is beyond rude. lol and have a nice day, Seraphine!

I don’t care if people I don’t know are texting around me. It only bothers me when the people I am WITH start texting. I feel left out, and I want to know what is so interesting. At least when my friends and family TALK on the cell phone and I’m there, I hear half a conversation and don’t feel so completely out of the loop. But then, I also feel rude for eavesdropping. But only a little.

It’s especially bad with the kids. You can be sitting with my kids, and talking about something, and they will be apparently having a complete conversation with someone else at the same time, via text. In fact, they can be having SEVERAL completely unrelated conversations going.

And if I ask them who they are talking to, it’s ME that’s being rude. Because it’s private.

    I hate that.

Ya gotta love the morons who assume you want to hear every detail of their phone call so they just about shout out every reply. I usually start making loud comments based on whats said until they hang up or shut up. Its funny when they go to hang up and tell whoever it is on the other side that there is someone being rude and that’s why they have to hang up. I of course cannot let an opening that big slip by without a retort. I do enjoy the little things in life :).

And yes when two people are newly in love it creates an energy around them that is quite strong. Too bad that energy never seems to last or at least rarely does.

They should charge extra for people who don’t text using proper spelling or grammar too :)

I don’t own a cell phone. It’s very difficult to text on a pay phone. People complain about the weird beeping noises and then you run out of quarters.

I agree, it’s very easy to notice the connection when two people are in love. It’s almost like an invisible thread hanging from one to another. Agreed too, I don’t wanna intercept the messages ;-)
