Taxicab Confessions
I like to watch reality shows. Taxicab Confessions is a favorite.
People tell things to cabbies I’d never in a million years tell a stranger. Not even a priest!
Would you tell a stranger something personal if you thought you’d never see them again?
Taxicab Confessions Synopsis (HBO.com)
“A guilty conscience needs to confess. A work of art is a confession.”
Quotation from Albert Camus
“Confession of errors is like a broom which sweeps away the dirt and
leaves the surface brighter and clearer. I feel stronger for confession.”
Quotation from Mohandas Gandhi

I love Camus’s quote and yes sometimes I feel the urge to “confess” my “sins”. Would be nice if some stranger would be willing to listen.

If SL-friends count as a RL-stranger, yes

I prefer Cash Cab, but I understand the feeling of confession - it hurts to pull it away from the skin, but it’s a relief to have it gone.

dandellion. i’d love to hear the whispered ims at clubs when couples get real quiet.
eidur. i can’t imagine anyone not wanting to listen to you.
glenn ‘bish the magish’. you’re referring to 1984 by george orwell?
golfwidow. poetically said!
nurse myra. camu observed the absurdity of death, then died in a car wreck.
zippora. you’re right! I have told people things in second life. omg, i didn’t think of that.

Hmmm… That quote from Camus hits home. My novel is one long confession of all my demons, desires, fantasies, and regrets.
And the taxicab thing… As an auctioneer, people tell me things about themselves and their families without me ever asking a question… I actually find that annoying.

I drive taxi, and let me tell you, people do tell you stuff.. things I dont wanna hear or know, things that I can’t get outta my brain… things that I *should* tell the police… its actually incredibly mentally fatiguing, because I care, I wish I could help.. whereas my hub, who has driven for too many years, says you can’t care or they will take your soul from you..LOL

Confess? Why, what have you heard?
I have nothing to confess… or at the very least, nothing I *can* confess…
Now, quit your questions and help me load this rather large and body-shaped bag into the trunk of your cab.

I’m a reality show junkie, thre are not that many good sitcoms on anymore!!
I remember the good old days with full house, fresh prince, family matters, step by step…the list goes on!
Thank you for the sweet things you said about my blog, I appreciate that fact that you’ve been a friend since the start!!

If a work of art is a confession as Camus said then I must confess that I’ve confessed more than I guessed.

Love the darker look on this one.
I would and have never told a complete stranger anything really personal. I get that from people all the time though. I can sit next to someone and if they start talking to me i usually end up having to hear all kinds of stuff i really could have gone my whole life without hearing. It gets annoying. I guess i have that kind of face? No idea.

Good quote From Albert Camus. It’s very surprising what people will confess to a total stranger. But just as surprising to realize your allowed to record without permission in the big apple but I also heard confessors must all give their blessings for it to be aired on TV, but mums the word on that!
Best wishes

Dear, what a great quote! I think it depends on the situation. I mean, how you feel about a particular stranger and the topic you are chatting. I plan not to say something “serious” to a stranger, but it may turn out to be different …. heheee…..

That reminds me, I haven’t checked the PostSecret updates for this week, yet… As always, I will wish I had something interesting to confess. Or maybe I do and it’s interesting to someone else, just not to me? hmmmmm

I have a love/hate thing with reality shows. I either really hate some shows, or I really love the others. Taxicab Confessions is one that I loved, but since I no longer have HBO, I don’t watch it anymore. Sometimes I wonder if some of the scenes were scripted.

I would never, ever tell a personal thing to a taxi driver. And I was thinking, why would someone do that? Is is a way to feel better? Why not go to a terapist instead of talking to the cab driver?
