Never Challenge the Challenged

I’m an easy target. People tease
me because they get a reaction.
It’s too hard for me to ignore it.
I like to have the last word…

“The bawdy hand of the dial is now upon the prick of noon.”
Quotation by William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet

“People who feel insecure in social situations never miss a chance
to exhibit their dominance over close, submissive friends, whom they
put down publicly, in front of everyone—by teasing, for example.”

Quotation by Friedrich Nietzsche, Sämtliche Werke: Kritische Studienausgabe

    Good morning,
I am smelling coffee, but your post has the potential to trigger some sexist remarks which I will refrain from this time since I am still tired and can’t sleep anymore (5:30AM). Working my ass off these days. Don’t know why, it is not really like me…
    You’re still in Tornado Valley?
I am leaving to an island in Maine coming weekend. A three week working vacation of sorts.

Hey Seraphine, that “CommentLuv” thingy is pretty cool, nice touch. I want to do the same on my blog if possible. If I can’t decipher it from your page, can I ask you for the script???

    Great post Seraphine,

So much of our world is putting up with others that can be often rude or unkind or even bullies. I believe in the quote of Frank Sinatra who said. “The best revenge in life is massive success”.

    Great post.

I work with someone who is so insecure and bereft of social skills you’d have to pity her but for the fact she’s so rude and abrasive she’ll make your stomach ache. As Milarepa said, “Be glad of those who anger us for how else are we to learn patience?”

My husband says I’m very buggable. I’m also very ticklish. All in all, I guess I’m an easy target too!

I tried 3 times this morning to leave a comment and now I can’t remember what I wanted to say. Oh yes, I do..

A woman I work with is that kind of difficult; talking to her is comparable to attempting a reasonable discourse with Bill O’Reilly. After another uncomfortable encounter yesterday I came home and the phrase that immediately appeared in the book I’m reading was this:

“We should be happy there are people who make us angry since how else will we learn to practice patience?”
    Milarepa

I work with a woman who is socially handicapped - so much so you’d have to feel sorry for her if it weren’t for the fact that any encounter can turn into a replay of trying to have a reasonable conversation with Bill O’Reilly. After being ambushed again yesterday I came home and opened the ‘Life of Milarepa’ which I’ve been reading this week and on the very next page he was quoted as having said:

“We should be grateful to those who anger us for how else will we learn to practice patience?”

Friendly teasing assumes a tacit approval and comfortable familiarity but in any other forms whose sole purpose is to irritate or infuriate I think it represents the undesirable leftovers of childish behaviors. I agree with Albert Nietze.
