Tornado Alley (Kansas: Part 6)

I’m in Kansas on Holiday. I’m returning shortly. If you
deliberately stay above ground level during a tornado,
you put yourself in harm’s way. Or even better, you
can try to be somewhere else other than Kansas.

“Hide our ignorance as we will, an evening of wine soon reveals it.”
Quotation by Heraclitus, Herakleitos and Diogenes

“So all who hide too well away
Must speak and tell us where they are”

If you must be above ground in Kansas during a twister, make sure you have ruby slippers and a little dog, just in case.

Dont you hate it when weather ruins holidays?
Over here in england its not quite to the same degree as hurricaines, but i know rain in AUGUST each year is certainly offputting.

I hope your holiday goes well, and you get back safely.

If you must be in Kansas, then maybe being in a ditch is not the worst option? Not that I would know- I have never been to Kansas. I’m just going with the theme here.

    tornados scare me!

Do like the people in Twister: run around and ask for help. Worked for them!

You certainly have had a baptism of fire, or should I say of wind and rain!! At least I can presume you’re safe and sound. We have seen what must be very frightening scenes over there of tornadoes and heavy flooding of the Missouri which we I note has devastated crops and led to escalating grain prices. Best wishes.

When I lived in Nebraska, there was a tornado that passed through our neighborhood. It had destroyed several houses around my house, but miraculously, our house was untouched. Weird.

Adelejoanna. They scare me too. I’ll share some pictures next week!
Bettina. Iif you are in a twister, there’s no “safe” place to be. Some people in their underground storm shelters emerged from this one with broken bones.
Golfwidow. Ruby slippers are famous here. :)
Lindsaylobe. The flooding elsewhere is terrible. There’s lots of mud in Kansas.
Molly. Rain, hail, thunderstorms, tornados… and hot… humid.
Nova-san. There was one house in Manhattan (Kansas) that was left untouched by the tornado, while all the neighbors had major damage. It’s been called The Miracle House. But yesterday, one week after the tornado, it was struck by lightening which caused a major fire. TRUTH!
Zhu. I’d be nowhere near a twister if I can avoid it.

oh really? that is a really interesting fact. but how does it work? even though it’s a ditch, the tornado will still go over it wouldn’t it?…. lol, im just curious. nevertheless, tornados are scary and i don’t think i will ever be in a town with a tornado if i can avoid it…
