The Sunflower State (Kansas: Part 2)

I’m flying to Kansas (Part 1) today to meet
the rest of my husband’s family. I’m nervous.

    You should be.
But often in this case is the “foreigner” to the family which is seen as a coming storm…
    So, be stormy!!! ;)

  2. Sarah Clark Says:

Hilarious. Don’t forget the BTK killer who resided in Wichita and haunted a community for decades before being caught a few years ago. That was a “fun” story to cover.

PS - Kansas really isn’t bad, but Missouri is BETTER! =)

  6. Beth Says:

Keep those cute sneakers on .
You may be doing some running - from spiders, tornadoes, whatever…
    (Best of luck.)

  7. ellie Says:

Scary. Stay safe, I’m in Nebraska, and it hasn’t been that bad yet, but over the weekend, a tornado came terribly close. Hope you have fun in Kansas. At least you won’t have rattlesnakes to worry about. Those are in Texas and usually in just the rural areas.

  8. Gary Says:

    You’re a city girl at heart I guess…

  9. Ras Says:

NO land will conquer your kind heart, nor will the in-laws.

  10. Lindsaylobe Says:

Is that grass as high as elephants eyes?
I heard they only eat plain food with butter
Rain tastes sweet in the high heat
With the wind racing across the planes!
And I trust your new in laws may well
provide a sense of extended family

    Best wishes

  13. Zhu Says:

Surviving Kansas, part I: stay away from tornadoes and spiders.

Oh, I’m sorry, is my comment too late? ;-)

  14. A. Decker Says:

Just think, if the spiders are huge, they’d really show up in all that flat landscape!!!
I lived 40+ yrs in AR, well within “tornado alley,” and never saw a single one.
    I really enjoy your comics.

  15. rags Says:

I hope that everything goes well.

  16. Carolina Lange Says:

Your husband’s family is from Kansas. I’ve never been there, but it is a place I’m curious to know. When you get back tell us if it is a nice place!
Hope you don’t get in the way of any tornado!

  17. Carolina Lange Says:

and don’t be nervous, they will love you!

  18. Hope Aldrich Says:

Just pick the tomatoes out of your salad and you’ll be fine. And don’t swear. Too much. They don’t like that there. And don’t ask “But what is there to DOOOOOOOO around here?” And go outside at night and look at the stars in that big ole sky. And watch a thunderstorm boil up from the horizon. And go for a ride in the cab of one of thsoe big combine things. But don’t try to drive it. At least not near any buildings. And always remember, as falls Whichita, so falls Whichita Falls. You’ll do fine.
