The Time Octopus
Time is all we have. It’s a precious gift, wrapping it’s
suctioned arms around us. We don’t have eternity,
only our time together. When the octopus lets go,
the ocean is empty, and inhabited by strangers.
Traveling Through Time by Clifford Pickover (pbs.org)
“Time drops in decay,
Like a candle burnt out,
And the mountains and woods
Have their day, have their day”
Verse by W.B. Yeats, The Wind Among the Reeds
“Claiming nothing, not claiming anything, not a claim in everything,
collecting claiming, all this makes a harmony, it even makes a succession.
Sincerely gracious one morning, sincerely graciously trembling,
sincere in gracious eloping, all this makes a furnace and a blanket.
All this shows quantity. Like an eye,
not so much more, not any searching, no compliments.”
Quotation from Gertrude Stein, Tender Buttons

Another reminder to make the most of the time we do have … and yet, we seldom get it right!
I like the visual image of the Octopus squeezing time out of us!

Abigail. I don’t think the universe is fair enough to say ‘what we get is what we deserve’. In as much as ‘what we get is what we get’, I suppose ‘what we get is probably right’.
By the way, when I click your name, the link seems to be broken: aggiesplaceblogger.com?

Is the ocean really empty without an octopus? I’m trying to read between the lines but I don’t get it. Those things freak me out anyway

I just love her top, it’s beautiful!
Anyway, I’m like Jen, Octopus freak me out. And trust me, I have seen a lot, in both Chinese and Italian cuisine!
By the way, I tagged you with a meme… not sure if you do these but I thought it would be interesting to see your Second Life objects! If you feel like it, do it, otherwise, you just got a free link

It’s difficult to say even what time is, although we can very accurately measure it. We exist in our time dimension but cannot step outside our universe to view it. Time is different for each of us but the differences are so small to be completely inconsequential in a lifetime but in the immensity of outer space time warp caused by gravity will bend it into different shapes causing a loss or gain of huge magnitudes. It was thought that time could only commence at the time of the big bang, but maybe it could have pre existed even before that as it remains somewhat of a mystery.
best wishes

Those “life’s too short” sayings are great and inspirational, but so hard to live by. It’s difficult to just “live” and do what you feel is right without having to face those (sometimes embarrassing) consequences.

Time is coming to us, we are not mowing to time. Time is something we can say in a positive way, Time is always get us into changes. We cant get time back.Time have always the same rhythm. The description of time is not something substantially and cant compare to to any others experiences, maybe time is so naturally, that we cant look on it, in a simple way. Sometimes I can experience time mowing in ultra rapid like a snail, and in a another time it going so fast, like a Ferrarie on a superhighway.
