An Overfertilized Mind
I have an overactive mind. It has priorities,
though they aren’t necessarily my priorities.
For instance, my mind worries when I should sleep.
I should be grateful. My mind is who I am.
I’d rather lose a leg than lose my mind.

“In the depths of every heart, there is a tomb and a dungeon, though the lights,
the music, and revelry above may cause us to forget their existence, and the
buried ones, or prisoners whom they hide. But sometimes, and oftenest at midnight,
those dark receptacles are flung wide open. In an hour like this, when the mind has
a passive sensibility, but no active strength; when the imagination is a mirror, imparting
vividness to all ideas, without the power of selecting or controlling them; then pray
that your griefs may slumber, and the brotherhood of remorse not break their chain.”

Some say that with braincells, it’s a ’survival of the fittest’ situation, which would mean you wouldn’t need to worry about losing essential parts, as the weakest cells would die first. God knows if that is true or just a good justification for being an alcoholic. Plus, who decides what’s really important?

That’s so true about your mind worrying when you should be sleeping.
sometimes it has screwed up priorities and it dosen’t know how to cope!

I totally know what you mean on this one. Sometimes I think it’s a hormonal thing. I hate it when my brain whirls around and around and around on the same topic whether I like it or not…

I love this topic! My minds is also oversized!
Somedays my mind is very kind to me, but others it can be a torture!
Great one!

I have this current problem of worrying and having thousands of thoughts when I lie in bed and should relax and sleep. It also has to do with the fact I’m more active during evening/night, and so slow in the morning..

If only our minds came with an on/off switch.

What happens to all of the thoughts on blogs?
Where do thoughts go as blog ceases to be ?
How will it be when you press a delete key?
Are those kind thoughts allowed to roam free?
Or are they entered on a new blog with glee
Where do they go when Google has fees?
Restored, reunited for a new world to see
Mind now the line of a haunting refrain
Continues forever no need to explain?

It’s not easy to forget what’s not important. Otherwise, you would have forgotten it by now.
Wouldn’t it be easy if our brain were like an hard drive we could defrag easily?

I count myself as fortunate to be able to fall asleep quickly and stay that way these days. Who was it that said “There is larceny in every heart?” Probably a mobster. But it applies to a few dates I’ve had. :D) All in good fun and looking ahead!
Enjoy your week, Seraphine!
