Owner’s Expense

Never destroy the imagination of another,
for in doing so, you destroy your own.

Women and Gendercide (Christian Science Monitor)
Case Study: “Honour” Killings and Blood Feuds (Gendercide Watch)
“The Whore Lived Like a German” (Der Spiegel)
A Detroit Family Kept a Painful Secret (The Detroit News)

“A wife is property that one acquires by contract,
she is transferable, because possession of her requires title;
in fact, woman is, so to speak, only man’s appendage;
consequently, slice, cut, clip her, you have all rights to her.”

Quotation from Honoré De Balzac, Meditation Number XII, Canel

“About the alleged condition of the property.
Does it have to be intact?”

Quotation from Margaret Forster, Georgy Girl

    Interesting quotes, but I don’t think I’m an appendage to my husband! =)

    Thanks for visiting my blog. I see you post a lot on Gary’s. He’s a cool cat.

    It’s totally off topic (providing that we need one) but this sentence was exactely what I needed to hear today. I’ll take it like a personal I-Ching, and will take my next moves accordingly.
    Thank you Sera for this lovely post.
    Oh, and… I’m officially a moron. Missed your show, had no excuses. What’s worst? I took with me 10 friends. It was the wrong day.
    I’m sorry :(

    Eidur. Laffs. At least with 10 people, you had the minumum for a great party!
    Sarah JC. Ya, I found your blog clicking on Gary. Click Click Click. He’s awesome, & so are you.

    Thanks Sera. I believe this issue is larger than climate change and is at the root of most of the ills we humanoids are flagellating ourselves with. I know for sure that Africa’s problems will be met by women, when they are safe and given power.

    The bones are hidden in N. America too. I worked on an Amnesty campaign called Stolen Sisters in Canada - more than 500 aboriginal women have gone missing or been murdered in Canada in the last 10 years.

    I joined the Nelson Women’s Centre this year, as an associate member. They are helping me see what I can do (I already know what not to do).

    It is amazing that there are still areas in the world that treat their women like that. You see how far women have come in the west and it just seems natural. Then you look at say China and all you can say is wow. I am glad i was born in a more enlightened society. Having to put up with the majority of my peers treating women that poorly would make me quite angry all the time. Now if we could just take those last steps and truly put women on an equal footing with men in our society then things just may get even better.

  13. Carolina Lange Says:

    It’s terrible to think that some women are treated so so so bad!
    This is such an important issue! Great one!
