I guess I always believe that reality is how I see myself. I can be my own worst enemy that way, because like most people, I am my toughest critic.

I like the idea of not caring what other people think.....but I do. More than I should. But it is something I feel that I'm getting better at as I get older.

Good one!

Reality as Gary said is subjective. I like Michael's Mothers idea and the other bloggers make good points How do we really relate to others? and does what we think about others really matter anyway ? Righteosness I think, ( given its true meaning) leads to a humility in that ( as opposed to self righteousness) it is based upon one seeing the good in others, not the bad, although you are aware of the bad.

Just as you recognize the good in yourself and are aware of your darker side.To know yourself.

That is to see yourself as you see others, the good and the bad; but already forgiven. I think what you think about yourself and what you think about others will continually influence your function in life. As Aristotle said a happy life ( note his expanded definition of happines which is more in line with purpose and function) is a virtuous life. To forgive another is to realease yourself from its hurtful consequence on your mind without condoning its consequences of hurtful intended or unintended result.

Best wishes

I find that my Mother's teachings while simple, ring true. She believes in "The Golden Rule", respecting others, that if you live your life well you don't need a gun etc. I really try to respect where people live and find common areas of interest. As long as a person is genuine, of goodwill and respects others and embraces peace, I find that to be enduring!

I agree with you. We also should not let what they perceive of who we are to define us.

Oh, I feel the same way... I mean not to care about it, but after all I do care..I guess most of people do:-S I hate it, I wish I didn't give a damn. The thing that upsets me the most is when I'm misjudged, when I realize somene sees me for something I'm not. But I should just think : f*c* off, and let it go..

But I just don't, blehhh Loved the duck in the title.

I think it shifts back and forth between the two extremes. I hate that. I want it to be MY reality.

Alexandro Jodorowsky once said: There is no place for rational philosophy in art, it only takes two souls talking to each other to make it work.
Jodorowsky is great artist but is downright insane, so who knows?
