III. Without Borders
We’ve crossed from Death into Life and I’m
assured we’ll cross that border again, back into
Death. If we’re able to make the trip once,
we should be able to do it again. Right?
Death is a dialogue between
The spirit and the dust.
“Dissolve,†says Death. The Spirit, “Sir,
I have another trust.â€
Death doubts it, argues from the ground.
The Spirit turns away,
Just laying off, for evidence,
An overcoat of clay.
Poem by Emily Dickinson, Time and Eternity
Reincarnation, according to The Skeptic’s Dictionary

Different borders. Life is something we’re just passing through; there’s no going back. But maybe, if we make the right turns and drive at a decent speed, we’ll end up somewhere nice.

If one were to read between the lines, then that whole “Entering Seraphine, No Speeding” would take on a whole different meaning…

I’m very confused about this topic of life and death. I’m afraid of dying, I don’t really truly believe in anything that might happen after it, I’ve read so many things.. but nothing makes me believe in something. My biggest fear is that there’s nothing after death, that in the end we were nothing but an object that got wasted, broke and there was no way to repair it.

I wonder what Woody Allen thinks of Emily Dickenson? In junior high English class, she was presented as being very mysterious!
