Spiders

The Brazilian Wandering Spider is large (4-6 inches)
And kills several people a year.
A definition of “Spider’s Legs” is
The pubic hairs sticking out of one’s underwear.
Both are equally scary.

My human is not afraid of spiders (excluding those big black hairy that live only inside TV programme). But, to surprise of both of us, it seems that I am. Recently a spider came while I was in the sandbox. And, I quit working for a second, looked at it and started running away. Since it was an avatar, it chased me for a bit. And really, last thing I wanted was a spider crawling up my leg.
And last Saturday, when Galatea turned into big red spider, it wasn’t an easy moment for me. But I wanted to stop behaving silly. If my human is not afraid of them then why should I? Though I just don’t want to imagine my meatself facing red spider that big.
I will discuss pubic hair in the other occasion :)

Ask me about the jumping spiders of Kassala, Sudan. Ask me about squatting over a pit toilet and seeing one slide under the outhouse door and leap into the pit below me. No, it’s all coming back! Stop!

I’ll take loose pubic hairs anytime over those memories…

Think of how spiders live and you have enough materials for being scared: after mating she kills and eats him… They sit silently in a sticky net waiting for flies or butterflies to attack, kill and suck them… they work with poison and sharp jaws… Their crawling over your skin tickles and gives you goose skin… They run faster than any insect, appear and disappear like the devil…

I’ve never see a dangerous spider here in Jamaica…well i don’t think they are!

  10. Abigail Says:

Eww! Yukky spiders. I use logic to get over fear of them. They are ugly, but mostly harmless (here in my country anyway) and I’m bigger than them.
Hmm, pubic hair? That’s what shavers are for aren’t they? Or wax? Or not?

Eidur. It’s not “just” you, others too.
Ines. Killer spiders are fairly rare. Keep repeating that as you walk in the dark.
Pen. Hibby Jibby. I love that… um… word.
Dendellion. Eww red spiders… and red ants scare me too.
    Jen. Hugs.
Gary. I’ll use an outhouse over a squatter anyday. Jumping spiders give me hibby Jibbies.
Eric. I think Clinique has a creme for goose skin, maybe.
Stunner. Then we are are coming to Jamaica. For sure mon.
Kalai. Cockroaches are almost pretty but I’d never want to touch one.
    Abigail. Shavers, wax, epilady…
Thanks all for your comments! Hugs all.

I used to be friends with spiders… Played with daddy long legs spiders when I was a kid… One day in SouthEast Louisiana, I came across an Orb spider. She was as big as my hand, and had built her web clear across a 10 foot wide path the forrest. She as at the center of it at about eye level. Waiting…. for anything to wander by… Now I get night mares!
