My webhosting service made an unannounced 24-hour “system maintenance” yesterday.
When they came back online, all of EncoreSeraphine’s comics were gone, deleted.
I called them, and some half-intelligible guy named Bryce told me “We didn’t do it”
which is silly because they did. Then he chastised me for not “backing up” which is
very strange because I thought that was something my hosting provider would do
automatically. *Logic and computers never have an easy alliance.*
I now have to repair the damage BlueHost did.
Meanwhile, does anyone have a recommendation for a hosting service that does
everything right? BlueHost sucks. I hope to be back up tomorrow with a new comic.

Oh i don’t really know about a good hosting service, wish i could help. I have tryed to check your blog yesterday but it wasn’t working and now this other problem. Hope it comes back to normal soon! kiss.

Thats absolutely awful of them! I use googles Picassa to store my pictures and Blogger for my blog. At least with dedicated storage the pictures should be safe.

Do you have the comics anywhere? This is an international crisis and I’ll join you in a class action lawsuit if you launch.
Seriously, your work is really special and it will be a real loss if the panels can’t be recovered.
I use blogspot, which is not too sophisticated, but hasn’t lost anything yet. I do keep a copy of my template somewhere just in case. But mine could go and it would be smoke in the wind – yours are jewels.
I also use googles Picassa to store my pictures and Blogger for my blog. I also use Frewebs.

and please… do you r own back-ups. There is an option in WP to send you packed backup as an e-mail. It doesn’t hurt and istn’t trouble at all to do that every week or two.
