The Brazilian Wandering Spider is large (4-6 inches)
And kills several people a year.
A definition of “Spider’s Legs” is
The pubic hairs sticking out of one’s underwear.
Both are equally scary.
The Witch insinuates herself into the mind so
getting out of one’s head becomes impossible.
“During these fits of absolute unconsciousness I drank,
God only knows how often or how much. As a matter of course,
my enemies referred the insanity to the drink rather than
the drink to the insanity. I had indeed, nearly abandoned all hope
of a permanent cure when I found one in the death of my wife.”
Quotation from Edgar Allan Poe, The Letters of Edgar Allan Poe
How many times have you felt a connection with someone
and later regretted letting the untaken moment pass?
Most people say they enjoy chocolate
anytime, but I think it’s better when
you roll it around on your tongue first.
My webhosting service made an unannounced 24-hour “system maintenance” yesterday.
When they came back online, all of EncoreSeraphine’s comics were gone, deleted.
I called them, and some half-intelligible guy named Bryce told me “We didn’t do it”
which is silly because they did. Then he chastised me for not “backing up” which is
very strange because I thought that was something my hosting provider would do
automatically. *Logic and computers never have an easy alliance.*
I now have to repair the damage BlueHost did.
Meanwhile, does anyone have a recommendation for a hosting service that does
everything right? BlueHost sucks. I hope to be back up tomorrow with a new comic.
One wonders, since young children
see the world with fresh eyes, what
they could express or teach if given
nuance command of verbal language.

When people ask what you want to be,
is there a nagging part of you that
softly whispers “something else?”

I enjoy making “comics” for you and I,
but I’m going to ease from posting daily
to updating five times a week. I’ll continue
to read your comments on a daily basis. Hugs!

It used to be cholesterol and fat, but now everyone
wants to flush out those ‘homolytic cleavages of covalent
bonds’ called Free Radicals. It sounds like a movement.

Inalienable human rights means equal opportunity for everyone.
“All the faithful, both clerical and lay,
should be accorded a lawful freedom of inquiry,
freedom of thought and freedom of expression.â€

“Let priests and bishops denounce—let the hierarchy
roar! They cannot push the chick back into the shell.”

I look for the quiet person in the corner and hang with them.
That’s where the most engaging, interesting conversations begin.
Thanks Eidur, for inviting me!
Reading is important because it humanizes our shared experience.
“The whole purpose of education is to turn mirrors into windows.”
Quotation by Sydney J. Harris
“In the first place, God made idiots. That was for practice. Then he made school boards.”
Quotation by Mark Twain
Doing what you love should hardly be called a job,
but it’s nice to be paid for it, ragardless.
“I must like my profession, since I can hardly distinguish myself from it.”
Quote from Mason Cooley, City Aphorisms
Thanks to Adam York Gregory for making a word puzzle for me
at his Flowfield Unity comic! Look for the October 13, 2007
comic titled “The repetetive nature of advancing technology”.
“Double Double Toil and Trouble”
Quote from Wm. Shakespare, Macbeth, Act IV
It’s impossible to be indifferent towards one’s opposite.
Certainly, opposites attract, but is that good? What do you think?
“Two things of opposite natures seem to depend on one
another, as a man depends on a woman, day on night,
the imagined on the real. This is the origin of change.”
Quote by Wallace Stevens, Notes toward a Supreme Fiction
Charles Dickens was a rich observer of life, people and places.
I love good books.
“If you really want to hear about it, the first thing you’ll probably want to know is where I was born, and what my lousy childhood was like, and how my parents were occupied and all before they had me, and all that David Copperfield kind of crap, but I don’t feel like going into it.”
Quotation by J.D. Salinger, Catcher in the Rye
Nobody wants to give up what they love, even if they
are forced into a “devil’s bargain” with themselves.
“Earth gets its price for what Earth gives us;
The beggar is taxed for a corner to die in,
The priest hath his fee who comes and shrives us,
We bargain for the graves we lie in”
Quoted from James Russell Lowell, The Vision of Sir Launfal
He asks himself, is it too late to become a Chippendale?
“The unexamined life is not worth living for man.”
Quotation from Plato in his dialogues
“What is the meaning of life? I know, but I won’t tell you.”
Quotation from Mason Cooley, City Aphorisms
Thank you Northie for your help with this one! Hugs.
In art, everything is possible, which makes some people uncomfortable.
This world of possibility enables creativity, which is the opposite of mediocrity.
Today’s comic was inspired by Romeika’s blog discussion
“I don’t really get contemporary art sometimes.”
I’m trying something new today.
It’s based on a curious sign I saw
stuck to a pole. I Hope you like it.

Here’s another scary water fact:
40% of antibiotics are fed to livestock as growth enhancers.
Livestock manure percolates into the groundwater which we drink.

Video surveillance is justified as a means to prevent and prosecute crimes,
to aid in the twin wars against drugs and terrorism, and to control traffic.
People should have a right to know if they are being monitored, why,
where the storage device footage is being kept, and by whom.
The “I’m melting, melting…” comment is from The Wizard of Oz.
The words are said by The Wicked Witch of the West, as she is dying.
